As the Christmas season approaches the Giardini Indro Montanelli (Porta Venezia Public Gardens) in the heart of Milan transforms into the Villaggio delle Meraviglie (Village of Wonders). This magical wonderland is one of the most beloved and anticipated Christmas events in the city, especially for families and children.

Held annually from mid-November through January 6th (the Epiphany), the Villaggio delle Meraviglie brings the festive spirit to life with a captivating blend of attractions, entertainment, and a genuine holiday atmosphere.

Milan's Magical Christmas Wonderland first opened on December 6, 2008, and over the years more attractions, decorations and events have transformed this village into a must-see event of the year. When you step through the gates it is like entering a holiday fairy tale filled with the warmth and magic that only Babbo Natale (Santa Claus) can provide.

The Christmas Village has something for everyone and truly a wonderful way to enjoy the holiday season. One of the highlights of the park is the large ice-skating rink (pista di pattinaggio). The 80-meter-long, 1,000-square-meter rink features a double ice-skating rink that is partly covered and heated and is suitable for everyone. In addition to the adult rink there is a covered baby rink for children up to 8 years old and beginners up to 10 years old accompanied by their parents. Skate rentals and private lessons are also available.

Throughout the village are classic amusement rides and themed attractions, such as the Crazy Flying Sleds (Pazze Slitte Volanti), the Elf Joust (Giostra degli Elfi), Santa's Sled (Slitta di Babbo Natale), Glacier Climbing (Giostra del grande Albero), and Journey into Guastafeste's world (Viaggio nel Mondo del Guastafeste). The Elves and other Christmas characters host daily shows, games, and the ever-popular "Baby Dance." As you wonder, through the park enjoying the sounds and decorations you will find cozy refreshment stands and small "market stalls," offering seasonal treats, warm drinks, and gift ideas.

The main attraction is none other than Santa's house. Reservations are mandatory to meet Santa Claus. Children under 12 are free, but there is a small cost for anyone over 12 years of age. This ends up being a donation that is given to Save the Children Organization. You can meet Santa up until December 25th. From December 26th to January 5th, you have an opportunity to meet Mrs. Claus. On the Epiphany you can listen to tales by the fireplace by none other than La Befana herself.

There is no fee to enter the Villaggio delle Meraviglie, but if you want to go on the rides or use the skating rink you will need to purchase a ticket. The Villaggio is family friendly and equipped for strollers as well as wheelchairs. The Christmas Park is outdoors so you can bring your pets and let them share in the magic of Christmas. It is recommended that your pets be on a leash or in special carriers.

If you are in or around Milan during the holiday season, make sure to stop and witness the Villaggio delle Meraviglie. This enchanted Christmas forest is an ideal destination to soak up the magic of the holiday season with the entire family. Visit Villaggio delle Meraviglie for show times, where to park and how to book your time with Santa.
