    Camerata di Colombaia

    Cavalcade of the Magi
    January 6th marks the 12th day of Christmas and it is called the Epiphany. To commemorate this special day the city of Florence, Italy hosts a pageant called the Cavalcata dei Magi (Cavalcade of the Magi). This is the biggest street procession in Florence and there are over 700 participants who dress in medieval costumes.

    Colors of Arezzo
    Arezzo is a city with many interesting traditions and celebrations. Itís a fantastic place where tourists can see festivities that have appeared in the middle ages.

    Events in Pisa
    Pisa is a city of great historical tradition and in June they celebrate the Giugno Pisano. The main atttractions of the Giugno Pisano include: Candlelight Festivities, Game of the Bridge, Historical Regatta of Saint Ranieri and The Regatta of the Ancient Maritime Republics.

    Festival Puccini of Torre del Lago
    This festival is held annually at the open-air theatre, just a stone's throw from the Villa Mausoleum where Giacomo Puccini lived, worked and is buried.

    Folkloristic in Florence
    This highlights the historic game of Calcio in Costume, lo Scoppio del Carro, Rificolona and the Festa di San Giovanni.

    Giostra del Saracino (The Joust of the Saracen)
    If you happen to be near the town of Arezzo in June or September, you will want to make sure you witness the Joust of the Saracen. This historical reenactment is filled with pageantry and games as the town is transformed back to the 14th century and all those that participate are dressed in costumes from that period.

    Giostra dell'Orso (Joust of the Bear)
    Every July 25th the city of Pistoia, which is in the region of Tuscany, hosts the Giostra dell'Orso (Joust of the Bear). This tournament is on the Feast Day of San Jacopo, patron saint of Pistoia.

    If you are travelling to this city you may want to find out when, where and what type of events take place throughout the year.

    Il Palio
    The Palio di Siena is one of the world's oldest horse race and it is held twice a year in the Tuscan town of Siena. To the Sienese this is more than just a race. It is a way of life and a passion that is instilled in them at birth.

    Palio di San Ranieri
    The city of Pisa hosts a two-day feast to celebrate their Patron Saint, San Ranieri. In the evening of June 16th, the town celebrates with the Luminara lighting up the town with candles. On June 17th the town prepares for the Palio di San Ranieri where boats compete for the "paliotto."

    Sagra del Tordo
    During the last weekend in October the town of Montalcino in the province of Siena, Tuscany hosts the Sagra del Tordo (Festival of the Thrush). This is the biggest and most important event for the town and one that the entire townspeople are involved in.
