Barletta-Andria-Trani Province, Puglia

Barletta-Andria-Trani Province is one of the newest provinces in Italy, officially created in June 2009 by annexing 10 cities from neighboring Bari and Foggia Provinces. Barletta, Andria and Trani are the three provincial capitals, very unusual for Italy, as there normally is only one. Called BAT Province in Italy, it is filled with castles, cathedrals, palazzos and the remains of the ancient Daunian and Peucetian civilizations, as well as that of Rome. It is also a province chock full of extra-virgin DOC olive oil, wines, handmade pastas and mozzarella. Within the province is also the first rural park in Italy, Parco Nazionale dell 'Alta Murgia, which encompasses the BAT province cities of Andria, Minervino Murge and Spinazzola.
