Las vocales, consonantes y semiconsonantes siguientes y - x - k - j -pertenecieron antiguamente al alfabeto italiano por su origen griego o latino, luego fueron eliminadas, dado que se usaban casi exclusivamente en el lenguaje científico-matemático, sin embargo recientemente han vuelto a pertenecer a dicho alfabeto, junto con la w por el uso frecuente de palabras extranjeras, incluyendo nombres de naciones, estados y ciudades.
Le seguenti vocali, consonanti e semiconsonanti y - x - k - j -appartennero apparténnero) anticamente all'alfabeto italiano essendo d'origine (orìgine) latina o greca, posteriormente furono (fùrono) eliminate, dato che si usavano (usàvano) quasi esclusivamente nel linguaggio scientifico-matematico (scientìfico-matemàtico), ma recentemente sono state ammesse nuovamente al suddetto alfabeto, insieme alla w dato l'uso frequente di parole straniere, includendo i nomi di nazioni, regioni e città.
