  • Italian Saints/Popes/Religious Figures

    Agnes of Montepulciano
She is most noted for her self-discipline and supernatural visions. She was canonized in 1726 by Pope Benedict XIII and they celebrate her feast day on April 20th.

    La Madonna della Civita
The Sanctuary of the Madonna della Civita is one of the oldest in all of Italy. The Madonna holds a special place in my heart because of my family's devotion to her. Each year my family celebrates the feast of the Madonna by holding a special mass on the Sunday closest to her feast day, which is July 21.

    Padre Pio
On June 16, 2002 in what was one of the largest attended masses in the history of the Vatican, Padre Pio was officially canonized and named a Saint. It was announced by Pope John Paul II that September 23 would be the feast day for the newly named Saint.

    Pope John Paul II
On May 18, 1920 Karol Joseph Wojtyla was born in Wadowice Poland. Little did anyone know that he would become the most recognized person in the world.

    St. Anthony of Padua
The feast day for St. Anthony is June 13. Included you will find a brief biography, prayers and lyrics to the song titled Invocazione Del Pellegrino A S. Antonio.

    St. Clare
This brief biography includes a list of patronage, vital information and a photo gallery.

    Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini
Widely recognized as the first American citizen canonized by the Roman Catholic Church, she is also acknowledged as the Patron Saint of immigrants. She gave hope to those desperately seeking help, offering assistance in both their material and spiritual needs.

    St. Francis of Assisi
A nice look at the life and times of this saint from the Catholic Encyclopedia.

Saint Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows
Saint Gabriel was declared a Saint by His Holiness Benedict XV in 1920. He is patron of young people, students, seminarians, clerics, Italian youth and of the region of Abruzzi in Italy.

    Saint Gemma Galgani
At the age of 21 she was marked with the stigmata of the Passion on the hands, feet, head and heart, not permanently but at various intervals.

    San Gennaro
He is the patron Saint of Naples, blood banks and volcanic eruptions and his feast day is September 19.

    St. Joseph
This includes resources on his life as well as the traditions celebrated on his feast day, which is March 19th.

    S. Joseph's Altar
One of the great traditions on St. Joseph's Day is the beautifully decorated altars made to honor the Patron Saint of carpenters, fathers and Sicily.

    Santa Lucia
She is the symbol of light and hope as well as the patron saint of the blind. Her feast day is December 13.

St. Patrick Is a Paesano Our Paesani -
March 17 is the feast day of St. Patrick, known to Italians as San Patrizio. Although Patrizio's celebration is overshadowed - in Italy at least - by that of San Giuseppe (St. Joseph) on March 19, Patrizio has his own ties to Italy. His parents were Romans.

    St. Valentine
This is a brief account of the life of the patron saint of lovers.
