Primo-secondo-terzo-quarto-quinto-sesto-settimo (SETtimo)-ottavo-nono-decimo (DEcimo)-ventesimo-ventitreesimo (ventitreEsimo)-trentesimo (trenTEsimo), quarantesimo (quaranTEsimo), centesimo (cenTEsimo), millesimo (milLEsimo), milionesimo (milioNEsimo), ecc.

• Ordinal numbers have their femenines and plurals: primo, primi, prima, prime, etc.
• Names of kings, emperors, popes, volumes, centuries, paragraphs, lessons and the first day of each month must be written with ordinal numbers (arabic or latin): re Vittorio Emanuele III, papa Giovanni XII, capitolo (caPItolo) secondo, volume IV, paragrafo (paRAgrafo) terzo, 1º gennaio, secolo (SEcolo) XIX (king Victor Manuel (the) III, pope Juan (the) XXIII, chapter 2, volume 4, third paragraph, January (the) 1st, 19th century, etc.
