Golden Ball
The Golden Ball award is presented to the best player at each World Cup Finals. Runner-up receives the Silver Ball and third place gets the Bronze Ball. Although this wasn't awarded until 1982 players were chosen in previous World Cup Tournaments for their outstanding play.

Golden Shoe
The Golden Shoe award is presented to the top goalscorer at the World Cup. In 1982 they added the Silver Shoe for the runner-up and the Bronze shoe for the player who finished third.

Yashin Award
The Yashin Award is given to the best goaltender in the World Cup. The award is named in honor of Lev Yashin of the USSR, who was voted the best goalkeeper of the 20th century by the IFFHS. This award was first given out in 1994.

At the end of the tournament an All-Star is chosen for each position. At first 11 players were chosen. This number was expanded to 16 in 1998 and then to 23 in 2006.
