Orvieto

After our day in Assisi we headed to Orvieto on a quiet Sunday morning. Church was in full swing by the time we went to Orvieto so the small city was not too busy. To get to the actual city, you can either hike up the mountain or take an incline; very similar to the inclines in Pittsburgh, PA.

Orvieto is known for their ceramics and for the Orvieto Cathedral. The Cathedral was built in the 14th century and dedicated to the Assumption of Mary.

While in Orvieto we encountered many cute shops and cafes. One in particular had the front pages of newspapers that had any important events on them plastered all over the walls. They also had some killer sandwiches there as well.

Orvieto is a very cute city but there is not much to do there, so our visit was considered to be a quick pit stop on our way to Rome.
