    Florence Night 2

    Florence Baptistry
As soon as our bus dropped us off back at our hotel in Florence, we were set free. First thing we did was run to get food. We were coerced into getting wild boar meat by our waiter and we were not disappointed in our dish. After our meal we headed back out to the main piazzas and simply wandered around for the night.

The highlight of our night is when we accidentally snuck into the Florence Baptistry. We're still not sure how we ended up inside or how we did not get kicked out, but the architecture of the building was just beautiful. Every square inch of the building was covered in carvings and paintings.

Even though we actually had no idea as to what building we were in or the significance of the building while we were there, the baptistry was one of my favorite experiences of the trip.

    Gelato in Florence
Once we successfully got out of the Baptistry, we headed out for gelato and found out that a large in florence is basically a XXXL in America. It took four people and 45 minutes to finally finish the strawberry gelato and the infamous gelato appeared in all of the pictures taken after its purchase during our night.

    Santa Maria del Fiore
As we continued on through the city, we ran into many artists busking in the piazzas and even witnessed a wedding dress photo shoot– where all of us creepily stared at them for the duration of the shoot.

On our way back to our hotel, we had to cross through the Duomo piazza. The Duomo is 20 times more gorgeous at night. This is a proven fact.

Can you spot the unfinished gelato cone in this picture of the Duomo?

Once we were done staring at the Duomo and finally finishing our gelato, we headed back to our hotel. On our walk back, we passed a hookah bar, a large group of tourists using selfie sticks and many artists painting the city. When we reached our hotel, we were pleasantly surprised to find a gigantic movie screen outside playing a soccer documentary. While the documentary was in Italian, and our knowledge of the language was limited, we were still able to deduce that the documentary was made as a sort of lead up to the big Italy v Germany game.

With my grand tour of Florence having been complete, we headed to bed to prepare for the next morning when we would sadly leave the city and head over to Verona and Venice.
