Interview with Cooking With Nonna Host Rossella Rago
Part 3 of 3 - A Closer Look at Rossella
Continued from part 2
Interviewed by Anthony Parente
In addition to maintaining your web site you are also an actress. What movies have you appeared in?
I've been lucky enough to be a part of many of the films that have shot in New York City. My first job ever was in the pilot season of "The Sopranos" when I was just 11 years old! Acting is my first love and my dream would definitely be to pursue it in conjunction with my show. Can I do it all? We'll see!
What is your favorite movie?
I would have to say that my favorite movie of all time that I'll never get tired of is "Moonstruck". You have to love a movie about Cher, a handless Nicolas Cage, and Brooklyn. Brooklyn is like another character in the movie.
What type of music do you like to listen to and who is your favorite artist/band?
My mother really instilled in me a strong appreciation for Italian music since I was a child. It was just always blaring in our house and in the car. I listen to more contemporary Italian bands like "Negramaro," but my favorite artist would hands down have to be Lucio Battisti. His music is like poetry.
What is your favorite Italian food?
My favorite food is Polpo (Octopus). I love it prepared almost any way whether it's drizzled with olive oil and breaded and barbecued, or steamed with a little lemon and mint, I'll never get tired of the stuff. In Mola we have a 3-day long festival called "La Sagra Del Polpo" dedicated to Octopus. I guess I never had any choice but to love it.
Do you have time for hobbies or interests?
I majored in Italian Literature in college, so reading is something I really enjoy. I'm still working on the "Divine Comedy". I'll let you know when I'm done.
What thing do you enjoy doing the most in your free time?
This may sound a little strange, but I LOVE going to different supermarkets. They are seriously my favorite stores and I could get lost in them for hours learning about new, different ethnic foods. Hey, I cook, OK? What do you want from me!
