Francesca Di Meglio is a full-time freelance writer based in Fort Lee, N.J. Community manager of the B-schools channel at BusinessWeek Online, she writes regularly about management education and occasionally about small business and women trying to break through the glass ceiling. She led the development and launch of the undergraduate business school channel for BusinessWeek.com. In 2007, Di Meglio was recognized for playing a major role in the BusinessWeek.com team that won a National Magazine Award (the highest honor in the magazine industry) for Interactive Service.

A contributing writer for Monster.com, she covers women in business and the marketing industry regularly. Her articles have also appeared in MBA Jungle.

An Italian American, Di Meglio is fluent in Italian and is an expert on Italian culture and lifestyle. Her weekly column, Our Paesani, which appears on ItaliansRus.com and Las Vegas' La Voce, bridges the gap between Italians abroad and those still in Italy. She has written for Tour & Food Italia, Primo, America & Italia Review, the Italian Tribune, and Ambassador, the official publication of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF).

A fervent soccer fan, Di Meglio also frequently covers soccer, especially the men's national and club teams in Italy. Her crowning glory was a front-page spread in the Italian Tribune featuring her story and photos about spending a day in 2003 at Giants Stadium with Juventus and Milan.

Since she launched her career at Ladies' Home Journal, Di Meglio has been no stranger to women's magazines. Her articles have appeared in LHJ and various parenting titles at iVillage.com, where she was an assistant producer for the Relationships channel. Writing about dating, love and even the battle of the sexes is a specialty of hers.

Although Di Meglio has had many successes in her career, she is always sharpening her writing and reporting skills. She seeks to work with solid editors who are unafraid to criticize and question. An editor herself, Di Meglio knows how to deliver polished stories (on time) and welcomes opportunities to report on interesting and varied topics.

There are still many goals on her to-do list – travel the world, write at least one article for a major travel magazine and win a writing award (just about any writing award). But her number-one wish is to write a book about the people on the Neapolitan island of Ischia, the original home of both sides of her family. The writer's life is made up of dreams - and Di Meglio is still dreaming.

I am proud to announce that a book I translated from Italian to English has finally been published and is set for release in the United States. A Teacher from Another Time, written by Vittorio Barbagiovanni, which shares with the readers the story of a teacher in Sicily during World War II, will have you feeling as though you are reading a personal diary. Immigrants who lived through World War II in Italy will particularly relate to this book.

If you are interested in purchasing the book, please get in touch with me at francesca@francescadimeglio.com – and I’ll get details on how to get your hands on a copy.
