What a festa it was! The 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics have officially come to a close, and our hearts are overflowing with Italian pride. For sixteen days, the eyes of the world were fixed on the majestic Dolomites and the vibrant streets of Milan, but it was our very own Azzurri who truly stole the show.

Competing on home soil, or more accurately, home snow and ice, Italy delivered a performance for the ages as well as the history books. Surpassing all previous records, the Italian national team finished the Games with an incredible 30 medals: 10 Gold, 6 Silver, and 14 Bronze. This marks Italy's most successful Winter Olympics ever, beating the legendary 20-medal haul from Lillehammer in 1994.

From the breathtaking slopes of Cortina d'Ampezzo to the high-speed tracks in Bormio, the Italian spirit was everywhere. We saw veteran icons cement their legacies and young stars rise to the occasion, all fueled by the enthusiastic cheers of the local tifosi.

The legendary Arianna Fontana once again proved why she is the "Queen of the Ice." By anchoring the Mixed Relay to gold and taking silver in the 500m, she reached a career total of 14 Olympic medals: 3 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze. She is now officially the most decorated Italian Olympian of all time, surpassing the great fencer Edoardo Mangiarotti.

On the slopes, Federica Brignone was a force of nature. Capturing two gold medals in the Super-G and Giant Slalom, she showed the world the technical mastery and fighting spirit that Italian skiing is known for. And let us not forget Francesca Lollobrigida, who dominated the long-track speed skating events, bringing home two individual golds that kept the Milan crowds roaring.

As we look back on these Games, it is not just about the medals around their necks, but the way these athletes represented our heritage. They showed the world that when it comes to passion, talent, and style, nobody does it quite like the Italians. Viva l'Italia!
